Trailer Servicing & Repairs
Here at Tamar Trailer Centre we are able to service all types of Trailer up to 3500Kg, from small unbraked general purpose trailers to large Tri-axle transporters or exhibition units. Being on the coast we service a huge amount of Boat Trailers and have a large range of parts in stock.
Why should I service my Trailer?
Trailers are road going vehicles therefore they have to be 'Road Safe'. As of yet there are no M.O.T's for Trailers so it is down to the driver to check its road worthiness. Even to the point where VOSA or the police can spot check the trailer and if it is not deemed to be road safe, the driver could be fined or receive penalty points on their driving license. Having your trailer serviced regularly will help ensure your trailer to be safe.
How often should I service my trailer?
Servicing your trailer not only keeps it working at its best but will also prolong its life and the life span of the parts, and you will also find it helps with the resale/part exchange value.
We, at Tamar Trailer Centre would recommend that if your trailer is used everyday or has heavy use, it should be serviced every 6 months or 6, 000 miles. For a lighter use trailer e.g a trailer used for tip runs or camping holidays should be serviced every 12 months.
A lack of proper servicing and maintenance is the cause of most breakdown and accidents involving trailers. The most common of these are bearing failure, lights, brakes/couplings and worn/damaged tyres.
